Asbestos Training, UKATA approved (United Kingdom Asbestos Training Association)
BTS is a UKATA approved training provider and is able to offer; Awareness, Skills (Non Licensed Removal) & Licensed Removal. We have dedicated instructors who specialise in this industry and are available to discuss any matters or questions that you may have regarding Asbestos Training.
The regulations require mandatory training for anyone liable to be exposed to asbestos at work.

UKATA ASBESTOS AWARENESS
Duration: 1/2 day
Course Overview
On successful completion of this course, delegates should be able to:
- Have an increased awareness of the nature and properties of asbestos and its effects on health, including the increased risk of lung cancer for asbestos workers who smoke;
- Be familiar with the types, uses and likely occurrences of asbestos in buildings and where appropriate items of plant;
- Know how to avoid the risks from asbestos;
- Have an awareness of the key aspects of the asbestos regulations and how they fit into the broader context of health and safety legislation.
- Procedures to be followed when coming into unintentional contact with ACMs and an understanding of the appropriate emergency arrangements.
Who should attend
Supervisors and trades personnel, including trainees such as but not limited to: demolition workers, construction workers, general maintenance staff, electricians, plumbers, gas fitters, painters and decorators, joiners, plasterers, roofers, heating and ventilation engineers, telecommunication engineers, fire and burglar alarm installers, computer installers, architects, building surveyors, shop-fitters and other such professionals.
Assessment of Training
Multiple choice questions at the end of the course.
Pre training requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for this course.
Candidates who successfully complete the course receive a UKATA Asbestos Awareness Certificate.
Refresher Training
Certification is valid for 1 year, delegates will need to attend an Asbestos Awareness course annually to keep their certificate up to date.

UKATA ASBESTOS SKILLS (NON-LICENSABLE WORK WITH ASBESTOS INCLUDING NNLW)
Duration: 1 day
Course Overview
On successful completion of this course, delegates should be able to:
- Be familiar with what works are classified as non-licensed;
- Be familiar with the control measures that will be required to undertake non-licensed work with asbestos containing materials;
- How to undertake specific task as laid down in HSG210, Essential Task Manual including, but not limited to;
– Drilling holes through AIB and textured coating
– Removal of small AIB panels;
– Removal of asbestos cement based products;
– Removal of articles containing asbestos such as floor tiles, gaskets etc. - Understand the requirements to prevent the spread of asbestos and control exposure when working with non-licensed asbestos containing materials;
- How to deal with the waste generated from undertaking tasks with non-licensed asbestos containing materials;
Who should attend
Any persons carrying out non-licensed works with asbestos containing materials, as laid down in CAR 2012, Reg 3(2). This would normally include, but is not limited to, trade operatives such as demolition workers, construction workers, general maintenance staff, electricians, plumbers, gas fitters, painters and decorators, joiners, shop fitters, plasterers, roofers, heating and ventilation engineers, telecommunication engineers, computer installers, fire and burglar alarm installers, architects, building surveyors and other such professionals or any other persons likely to disturb and carry out work on asbestos containing materials as defined in CAR 2012.

Delegates must have completed a UKATA asbestos awareness course within 6 months of the start date of this course.
Candidates who successfully complete the course receive a UKATA Non-Licensable Work with Asbestos including NNLW Certificate.

Certificates are valid for 1 year, delegates will need to attend a 1/2 day Non Licensed Asbestos Refresher course annually to keep their certificate up to date.
ASBESTOS SKILLS REFRESHER

UKATA LICENSABLE WORK WITH ASBESTOS
The below information is based on the Initial Operative Course. We offer all levels of Licensed Asbestos training, including Managers, Supervisors and Scaffolders.
Duration: 3 days
Course Overview
On successful completion of this course, delegates should be able to:
- Be familiar with what tasks are classified as licensable work;
- Be familiar with the control measures that will be required to undertake licensable work with asbestos containing materials;
- How to undertake specific tasks as required, including, but not limited to; Enclosure, airlock and baglock construction
- Maintain RPE and understand the correct use of PPE and RPE;
- Use of control measures, specifically injection and vacuum methods;
- Fully understand the site set up and layout of a licensed asbestos removal site;
- Fully decontaminate from a working area.
- Understand the requirements to prevent the spread of asbestos and control exposure when undertaking licensable work with asbestos containing materials;
- How to deal with the waste generated from licensable work with asbestos containing materials;
Who should attend
Any persons carrying out licensable work with asbestos containing materials, as laid down in CAR 2012. This would normally include, but is not limited to, licensed asbestos removal contractors and ancillary trades such as scaffolders who undertake licensed asbestos ancillary work, companies maintaining negative pressure units and class “H” vacuums and those required to enter into enclosures to carry out other ancillary work.
