- ½ Day Supervisors Confined Space – BTS Certification

- 2 Day Medium Risk Confined Space – City & Guilds Certification
- High Risk Confined Space – City & Guilds Certification
Confined Space Awareness
Duration: 1 day for a maximum of 10 operators
Course Overview
- Understand the relevant legislation covering Confined Spaces
- Understand the importance of & set up the correct systems for safe access & egress from Confined Space
- Be aware of the signs & symptoms of health risks & how to mitigate their effects
- Environmental testing & control – to include gas testing & ventilation
- Emergency procedures & basic first aid procedures
- Safety equipment to include breathing apparatus, its use, testing & maintenance
- The responsibility & actions to be taken by the safety person (top man)
Who should attend
Those persons nominated to work in or at confined spaces.
Assessment of Training
Multiple choice questions at the end of the course.
Pre training requirements
Delegates attending this course should be physically and mentally fit.
Operators who successfully pass the course will receive a BTS Certificate & ID Card.

City & Guilds Medium Risk
City & Guilds Level 2 Qualification in Working in Medium Risk Confined Spaces (6150-02)
Duration: 2 days for a maximum of 10 operators
Course Overview
Along with gaining a sound understanding of the Confined Space Regulations 1997, learners will be able to:
- Prepare to work safely in medium risk confined spaces
- Enter and exit confined spaces safely
- Prepare and use appropriate respiratory protective equipment (RPE) for escape purposes in accordance with
manufacturers’ specifications - Use equipment and tools safely and in accordance with manufacturers’ instructions
- Follow procedures and work safely
- Deal with emergencies
- Use appropriate behaviour for working in medium risk confined spaces
- Use appropriate industry knowledge for working in medium risk confined spaces
- Apply relevant industry standards for working in medium risk confined spaces
Who should attend
For persons nominated to work in or at confined spaces where work has been assessed and classified as NC2 or NC3 (Medium Risk) who require pre-assessment training to prepare them for assessment in City & Guilds
6150-02.
Assessment of Training
City & Guilds question papers and practical assessment observation checklists will be submitted upon assessment completion
Pre training requirements
Candidates should bring their own safety footwear, waterproof clothing, hard hat and working gloves for the practical exercises. Course tuition will include a high proportion of hands-on demonstrations and practical exercises, supplemented with classroom based tutorials and pre and post course assessments. The learner will be given the opportunity to show they can resolve problems through evidence gained during practical exercises.
Delegates attending this course should be physically and mentally fit.
Certificates by City & Guilds will be issued subject to final verification.
